CBN Extends BVN Registration To October 31

Reports coming in has it that the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN, has extended the deadline of the on-going BVN registration to October 31.

The Agip oil company centre in Ebocha in Ogba Egbema Ndoni LGA in Rivers was yesterday gutted by fire.

According to a citizen reporter, Lukeson Oguchi, the fire started at about 11pm after a loud explosion.

Vanguard is yet to ascertain the cause of the fire or number of casualties.

A TWENTY-YEAR-OLD Kenyan woman has confessed to killing three children, one of them her one-week old son, removed his intestines and ate them raw, Nairobi News reports.

The woman who lives in Korogocho, a slum in Nairobi, is said to have slit open her week-old son’s stomach, removed his intestines and ate them before going to her friend’s house and killing two other children.

Not the seized corpses

A private hospital in Isoko Area of Delta State has refused to release six corpses in its mortuary for burial over N13.5M unpaid bills. The corpses were victims of Irri Inter-communal crisis of 2002.

The community buried some victims yesterday but could not bury the six has the hospital insists on the payment of the owed bills.

Mr Goddey Igorigo, the chairman of Irri Development Union, spoke to Vanguard journalists after the burial.

Headteacher Jailed For Eight Years For Underage Sex With Two Boys

A UK Headteacher, Anne Lakey, had been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for having sex with two of her male students back in 1980s.

The men, were 14 and 17+ around the time while the 55-years-old headteacher was in her late 20s.

Queen May Have To Move For Buckingham Palace Repairs

Queen Elizabeth II may have to move out of Buckingham Palace to allow for much-needed repairs including taking out asbestos, replacing ageing boilers and rewiring, royal officials said.

"One option is for the palace to be vacated," a royal source said, giving one estimate for the refurbishment of the 18th-century building at £150 million (211 million euros, $237 million).

"We're getting experts to look at these scenarios," the source said, adding that the royal family's continued presence would depend on whether the building work was done in stages or all at once.

The news came as the queen's treasurer Alan Reid outlined the royal family's annual accounts, which showed the public cost of the British monarchy to be £35.7 million, the same level as last year.

A university student, Sarah Kwabla, is threatening to make public what she describes as a secretly recorded video of sexual intercourse she had with Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan.

Sarah said she secretly recorded the video when the Black Stars captain had sex with her at her apartment in February this year and that she has decided to make it public because her relationship with the footballer is not going as she had envisaged.

Titanic Music Composer James Horner Dies

James Horner, the Hollywood composer who wrote the score for the Oscar-winning film hit Titanic, has died in a California plane crash aged 61.

He is reported to have been alone aboard a two-seater single-engine plane which crashed north of Santa Barbara on Monday morning.

The two-time Oscar winner worked on three James Cameron films, as well as A Beautiful Mind, Troy and Apollo 13.

He won one Oscar for the Titanic film score and one for its theme song.

Actor and director Ron Howard tweeted: “Brilliant Composer James Horner, friend & collaborator on 7 movies has tragically died in a plane crash. My heart aches for his loved ones.”
