A Kenyan teacher at Highridge Secondary School, Mr. Hillary Okeyo (shown above in court) has been arrested for allegedly raping one of his students. He was later granted bail after pleading not guity.
The 15-year-old alleged victim is a form one student of the school. If Mr. Okeyo is found guilty, he could face life imprisonment.
The incident happened around 9pm on Wednesday, October 7th. The school authority had tried to conceal the case but outrage from other students forced them to report to the police. The girl's mother also got to know after days had past.
“When they (school administration) were recording a statement on Monday that is when the police called me….” the student’s mother said.
Blood samples have been collected to give forensic evidence that the rape did occur.
